Spring Sports Dominate again...
Call the GymDawgs County Champs! Saturday at Dobbs Creek they defeated Lambert, West, and South to reclaim the top spot. With a team accumulation of 109.95 points, we set a record for the highest total ever. Lauren Gist, pictured on the beam, was named the County Individual Champion with a score of 38 in her four events. Last regular season meet is this Tuesday at Lovett HS and then the State Qualifying Meet April 16th at Dunwoody. See the proud team pictured after the meet.
Baseball continued their winning ways last week as they completed their second series sweep of the season. We won the two games on the road 7-3 and 11-2. The home game Wednesday was shortened to four innings with us winning 16-1. The top four in our batting order paced the offense with Robbie Repasz scoring 4 runs, Parker Biederer scoring 6 runs, Taylor Bauman scoring 4 runs and 6 RBI, and Hunter Bauman pictured knocking in some of his 4 RBI. Pitching was once again strong as over 18 innings we gave up 11 hits and 6 runs while posting 22 Ks. Our overall record is 11-3 and 8-1 within the Region. Next series is with North Atlanta.
Both Tennis teams defeated Sprayberry Tuesday afternoon. The Girls won their match 3-2, pictured is Chloe Muklevicz returning the ball in her victorious singles match. The Boys cruised to a 5-0 win and at the same time clinched a spot in the Region Tournament. Pictured is Phillip Kinneer serving in the #1 singles match. Both teams have their last two regular season matches this week, with Thursday being Senior Night.
The Girls and Boys Soccer teams' matches vs. Sprayberry were postponedThursday due to the weather. Tuesday night we hosted Cambridge with our Girls losing 2-0 and the Boys falling 4-2. This coming week will be a busy one for them as we play three games. Look for both of them to bounce back with a great week.
Our Lacrosse teams continue to grow and develop. The Boys took on a top rated Cambridge team losing 17-1 on the road and dropping one to Carrolton at home 8-3. Pictured is Goalie Cohen Hoton clearing the ball. The Girls were on the road for both games this week losing 16-11 at Buford and 14-13 at Riverwood. Both teams are away for one game this week.
We had a couple of strong individual performances with Taliyah Manning winning the Shot Put and Discus at the County Track & Field Meet. We also had Hannah Walker, pictured teeing off, place 2nd at a Golf match with West Forsyth and Northview as she shot a 77. Special kudos to Hannah for also organizing the Comic Con held on Saturday in the Arena.
Congratulations are in order to Annie Karickhoff for being named a Georgia Scholar by the Department of Education. Georgia Scholars are recognized for carrying exemplary course loads, perform excellently in all courses, successfully participate in extracurricular activities along with interscholastic events and are active in their community. Annie is also a member of the County Champion Gymnastics team.

Tuesday night we host Kell for Senior Night. Come out and support this great group of student-athletes that have represented FCHS for the past four year. Also be sure to attend the Region 7-5A Basketball Tournament we are hosting beginning this Friday the 5th and runs through next Saturday the 13th.
As mentioned above, Friday was Homecoming at school. Congratulations to the elected King and Queen, Braden Ragsdale and Julie Richards. Want to say a special thank you to Amanda Edwards and Kelle Hardage for their efforts in making sure both the Pep Rally and HC activities were outstanding. See the photo of the K & Q.
The Pep Rally did have some shining moments, the dance off between students and teachers was awesome, the introduction of Spring Sports, and our MC Devyn Malinzak. But I would be wrong if I didn't recognize one Dog & Dirst. See the photo only a mother could love.
Wrestling was at Creekview High School this weekend competing in the Region 7-5A Area Traditionals. The team was able to advance five wrestlers to next week's East Sectionals in which the top four from each weight class move on to the State Championships. Congratulations to Keaton Platzke, Hunter Kurowski, Sebastian Legarra, Parker Evans, and Abraham Perez. See the picture of them, they are in the same order as mentioned above from left to right.

All They Do is Win
By: Aaron Bass
After taking Region last week our Academic Team has shown what they are truly made of, and that's trophies and pure domination. Led by Seniors JD Browning, Logan Ballard, and Michael Sloan in the past four years they have posted a 63-5 record making them the most winningest program under this years graduating class winning over 92% of their matches and on average scoring 18% more points than their competition.
But that's not all they have done, in the fours under JD, Logan, and Michael the Academic has won Region three times, competed in the State tournament four times, and has won one State Championship. But last year was the peak of it all, as the Dawgs traveled to the New Orleans Regional as they competed for a national championship and a chance to call themselves the smartest highschoolers in the nation, but in New Orleans they were only able to place fourth out of fifteen teams.
However for this year I have been told the hungry for more. As this year they will enter the state tournament as a top seed and will look to not only win another state championship, but also go to Washington D.C. for back to back chances at winning a national championship. As this year comes close to an end the Academic will lose their power but more will come as freshman Kyle Rowe has quickly separated himself from the pack as he has led the JV Team in points and total questions answered. With 2 months to prepare for state they will more than ready to bring home their 16th trophy in a four year span.

A Week of Winning
What a game Friday night at the C-House. Kell came into the game ranked 8th in the State in AAAAA but it was our Bulldogs that were impressive. Trailing 14-0 in the second half, we rallied to cut the deficit to 14-7 late in the 3rd quarter on a touchdown run from Sabrian Howard. Late in the fourth quarter Pierce Nufer made an incredibly athletic interception which set up the offense on the 15 yard line with three minutes to play. A Jagger Hartshorn QB sneak with 39 seconds left made the score 14-13. No doubt about it that we would go for two and the win, unfortunately the ball was intercepted in the back of the endzone. It was a terrific effort by our boys and coaches as they stood toe to toe with the defending Region Champions.
It was Future Bulldog Night at the stadium Friday night and we got a preview of all the upcoming band members, cheerleaders, dancers and football players. Thanks to Melanie Averitt for putting the event together. See the picture of our football players and the "future" busting through the banner. Along with FBN, we had members of the FOC band, cheerleaders and football players visit all four of our Elementary feeder schools' carlines to invite all to the game. Thank you to Cynthia Williamson for the idea and the organization. See a picture of one of our groups.
The Cross Country boys finished 1st at the Warpath Invitational while our girls came in 10th. The race featured 25 teams from North Georgia on the region championship course in Canton. Looking forward to October 28th...
Competition Cheer came in 3rd place out of 11 teams in the North Gwinnett Bulldog competition. See the attached photo of the team.
Our Academic Team defeated North Forsyth's varsity and JV last week. Always nice to beat a rival!
Volleyball earned a split by defeating Kell and losing to Cambridge earlier in the week. We came back to defeat North Springs Thursday night. Thank you to our three seniors, Julia Jasion, Amber Walsh and Sarah Whittington. See the attached picture of everyone.
Softball went 3-1 this past week and have three more games this coming week, but none bigger than Thursday's Senior Night vs. Sprayberry. Please come out and support the team.

Clean Sweep
“Team 60” traveled to Dawsonville Friday night in a battle between the Bulldogs and Tigers. The Dawgs had more bite and bark then our northern neighbors as we defeated Dawson County 28-8 in the first football game of the season. The effort was keyed by a smothering defense that included a pick six by Sebastian Legarra #11 (see the attached photo of the celebration) and the three headed rushing attack of Shaun Diebel, Sabrian Howard and Jagger Hartshorn.
Softball is riding a five game winning streak heading into a big region game Tuesday night at Sprayberry. Last week we defeated Kell 5-2 with a dramatic five run 6th inning featuring a go ahead clutch hit by Devyn Malinzak.Wednesday night Karah Straub's three hits and Abby Sims' pitching propelled us to a 9-4 victory over North Atlanta. Finally Thursday night's Alumni Night was a success as we defeated Riverwood 17-0 behind Gina Fishler in the circle.
Tuesday night Volleyball defeated Kings Ridge with Emma Gore's team leading 12 kills and Julia Jasion's 11 kills. Thursday was another close match for our VolleyDawgs but we came up short vs. Creekview and Pinecrest. We have an important region match Tuesday in the Arena vs. Riverwood and North Springs. The girls would love everyone to attend and cheer them on to two wins.
Cross Country finally ran their first meet at the Bob Blastow Saturdaymorning. Both the boys and girls teams did very well and are both excited for a special season. The boys finished 2nd out of 30 teams with Milton coming in first and South Forsyth third...always nice to beat a sister school! Our girls were impressive as they came in 7th out of 36 teams. Many of the top teams in the state were at this meet so this was a great first showing for our kids!
Though our cheerleaders did not compete Saturday, their outstanding Sneak Peek got them ready for the first competition on September 12th.
